    Objective

    There are many methods of mapping XML data to a relational schema, each offering different query performance for a given XML-driven query workload. In this part, mechanisms that flexibly support and optimize such XML-to-relational mapping strategies will be studied, their effect on the performance of other parts of the Rainbow system, such as query processing, view maintenance, and update propagation will be considered.
