Kwame Frempong Siriboe

My name is Kwame Frempong Siriboe. I am a student Of North High School in Worcester Massachusetts who is entering my senior year in the fall of 2007. This summer I interned at the Database Systems  Research Group (DSRG) at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) Computer Science Department. I was part of their Research Experience for K - 12 students. My duties consisted of analyzing various database groups website to see how navigation feels and how publications, projects, and other web buttons were organized. I was given the chance to design a prototype webpage for WPI's DSRG based on the research and analysis of all the database websites I have seen.

To design the webpage, I had to propose a design diagram (with the help of Venky) which shows how the webpage is going to look and how navigation is going to feel. After using various templates I decided to use a template from Andreas Viklund. I then designed the webpage with all the information form the old DSRG webpage. The current webpage is located here Database Systems Research Group.  I also designed Prof Elke's homepage based on the template used for the DSRG webpage. The webpage is located here Prof Elke A. Rundensteiner's Homepage. I also learned the basics of java programming and how to create web applications with java (applets). Throughout this internship, I learnt how to effectively create a webpage and use skillful ways to make java applications. With all the knowledge and hands on experience from this internship, I believe that I can teach eager people who are willing to learn and also produce ideas for a future computer programming.

What I have Learned from the Internship:
Java syntaxes
Java Applets syntaxes
JSP Syntax
Unix Commands (cd, ln, ls, chmod)
NetBeans Tutorial
Eclipse Tutorial
BibTeX
CSS Tutorials
Html and Javascript
