Conclusions
As you can see there are many different techniques used to model cloth. Some techniques
are more useful that others. The technique that you would want to use really depends on what
you need the model for. If you are just trying to make the model look realistic you may want
to go with the geometric models, but if you are trying to model the characteristics of a certain
cloth the best bet is to go with a physically based modeling techniques.
The creation of a perfect cloth model is almost impossible due to the incredible complex interactions
that cloth has on the macro and microscopic levels. When discussing the differences in the looks
of his generated cloth when compared to real cloth he stated that the number of possibilities for the shape
of cloth is extremely high. If you drape a piece of cloth over an item multiple times, you will be very unlikely
to get two exact configurations of the cloth. The only thing that we can do when we are modeling
cloth is to make use of the best configuration that we can come up with.
