Progress Report for the week of January 22, 1998

Accomplishments:

This week was one of the most frustating we have had so far. It seemed that noghing would work for us. Both Will and Jason have had many problems compiling. Will has a particularly bad runtime problem that does not show up on either Jason's or Matt's machine. Jason also has a problem that does not show up on either Will's or Matt's machine. Matt has been working to try to get the new JDK working on crane, but has been having no luck. It seems to compile fine, but when running the java interpreter, the interpreter seg faults and dies. I've seen this problem before and it is due to the setup, but we have not yet figured out a way around it. We also managed to find a bug in the brush with a certain data set, but have not had time to look into it. We are planning to lock ourselves in a lab this weekend in order to catch up on this week's problems. We have put together a schedule for the rest of this term. We have also put together a style guide for the final writeup.
