Progress Report for the week of February 6, 1998

Accomplishments:

This week had some good progress and some not so good progress. We have been testing Will's scatter plot graph and have found it to continue to work correctly. Unfortunately, Jason has had less luck with the Scatter plot graph, but is making progress. Matt has still had no luck with the color selector. the dialog box just will not display. It is very frustrating. In his debugging, though, he made a major improvement in the inner workings of the main JViz class. It is now multithreaded. Before it wasn't and it was though to be causing problems (will explain during the meeting). Unfortunately, it is not the cause. This problem will haunt us when the glyph graph is working, too because we won't be able to display it either. It is quite frustrating. The newsgroups have been of little use. Since will's graph is working, he has gone back to doing more research. He has gotten numerous articles in the Library and has leads on quite a few more. This week we got our quota increased again (substantially) so now we can do work/testing on crane.
